Keith Phalp

Trustee

Keith has spent most of his life in Dorset, having moved here in his teens.

He graduated with a degree in mathematics, (University of Kent), then taught mathematics in two large schools in West Sussex, before returning to pursue an MSc (Software Engineering), and then a PhD (Computer Science), at Bournemouth University.   Keith spent most of his academic career at Bournemouth, latterly as Pro Vice-Chancellor for both Education and Research, until retirement in 2025. He retains a research link to Bournemouth as a visiting Professor.

Keith brings significant research track-record, in software engineering, artificial intelligence and, in relation to mental health, into digital addiction and problematic on-line gambling behaviours.  He also has previous governance experience from roles with Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust and Dorset’s Local Enterprise Partnership.

Keith now works within interim leadership roles in Higher Education, and is a board member of Coastland College, (formerly Weymouth and Kingston Maurward Colleges).
