Sherborne Centre for Wellbeing

Sherborne Centre for WellbeingThis project is a community resource centre run by its members in the heart of Sherborne. It provides supported employment, volunteer opportunities, informal training and social facilities.

The centre is open every day except Sundays and provides wireless internet access. The popular Zest Cafe is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays where you can choose from a diverse and healthy menu and either eat in or takeaway.

The centre was previously known as the Four Leaf Clover Club. It re-launched in 2010 as the Sherborne Centre for Wellbeing incorporating the Four Leaf Clover Club and Zest Cafe.

The centre not only provides a service for people recovering from mental health problems but also offers inclusive access to the whole community.

The Centre's Ethos

The centre promotes the social, emotional and mental wellbeing of people in the local community. It provides a warm and welcoming environment where people from all walks of life can enjoy the facilities on offer and the opportunities to relax and socialise.

Zest Cafe with Internet Access

Caz, Zest ManagerAnother great new development at the centre is the refurbished community internet cafe, 'Zest'. The Zest Cafe is open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 9.30am - 3.00pm.

'Zest' provides excellent food and refreshments including jacket potatoes, juices, smoothies and scrumptious treats in a friendly, safe and vibrant environment for the entire community to enjoy - or you could use the take-away option instead if you prefer.

As well as promoting healthy living, 'Zest' aims to reduce the stigma of mental illness through education and integration - employing people who have experienced mental ill health to run the cafe.

Volunteering at the Zest Cafe

The centre is looking for volunteers to use their existing skills and experience whilst also learning new skills by running the cafe within a supportive environment. Travel expenses will be paid for by the organisation in accordance with national guidelines. All volunteers will be welcomed as part of a friendly team. The work will involve preparing and serving food and drink, washing up, cleaning and till work. Volunteers will be provided with a free meal.

If you are interested in volunteering or any other aspect of the project please contact Liz McGaw, Mondays to Wednesdays on 01935 389192 or email the Sherborne Centre for Wellbeing.
